REIKI

WHAT IS REIKI?

Reiki is a form of energetic healing and spiritual development that was established by Mikao Usui, a Tendai Buddhist and healer, in Japan during the early 1900’s. The word Reiki comes from the Japanese word Rei, which means spiritual or universal spirit, and Ki, which means life force energy. This spiritual energy is known by many names in different cultures such as Chi, which originates from China, Prana, which originates from India, and Mana, which originates from Polynesia.

HOW DOES REIKI WORK?

The therapeutic application of Reiki involves the Reiki practitioner acting as a channel for the Reiki energy and directing it towards and into the one receiving the treatment. The Reiki practitioner can either do a “hands-on” approach, which means the practitioner directly touches the patient, or a “hands-off” approach, which means the practitioner leaves their hands hovering above the patient’s body. Both methods are effective and it is up to the Reiki practitioner to decide which method to use.

What Are the Benefits of Reiki?

It is important to understand that Reiki energy does not come from the Reiki practitioner, it flows through them. This means that the Reiki practitioner is only directing the energy into the patient. Reiki can be considered an intelligent energy that does not necessarily need to be directed to specific spots of the patient’s body. Due to the nature of Reiki, it will flow naturally to the areas that need to be healed. Thus, the patient is actually healing themselves through the energetic stimulation of Reiki.

Reiki has many benefits and is most commonly used to facilitate physical healing and emotional balancing, as well as maintaining a healthy, balanced state of being. Reiki adapts to the needs of the recipient and thus has potentially limitless applications, such as deepening meditative states, promoting personal awareness, enhancing spiritual connection, fostering natural self-healing abilities, relaxing and reducing stress, balancing energies in the body, relieving pain and discomfort, and improving sleep quality. If one is already healthy and stable, Reiki can be used to maintain and enhance that balance.

Who am I as a Reiki Practitioner?

Freddy Grissom

My name is Frederick (Freddy) Grissom and I am a certified Level I and Level II Reiki Practitioner. I practice the Usui style of Reiki, which was taught to me by my master, Nicole Adarna of Mauli Ola Reiki Healing. I practice Reiki daily which has improved my emotional well-being and overall physical health since I first began. I firmly believe in the healing power of Reiki and am honored to share it with others.

As a Reiki Practitioner, I do not diagnose illnesses, perform medical treatments, prescribe medication, or interfere with the treatments of a licensed healthcare professional. Reiki does not take the place of traditional medical care. Reiki should not be used as alternative healing; it is complementary to a patient’s existing treatment(s). The State of Hawaii does not recognize Reiki as an official healing alternative and it is recommended that you consult with a licensed healthcare professional if you are experiencing any physical or psychological issues.
